When the sun goes down, the real feast begins. Woks flare over open flames. The air fills with lemongrass, charcoal, and chili. Strangers crowd around sizzling stalls — no reservations, no pretense.
That's the night market. And for one weekend this September, it comes to Memphis.
Last year, 8,000 people showed up for slow-simmered pho, brisket bao, Korean BBQ sizzling over charcoal, and street food from more than a dozen Asian countries — the largest Asian food festival in the Mid-South. This year: two days, 100+ vendors, and a celebration under the Mid-Autumn moon.
Once a year, when the moon hangs fullest, families across Asia gather to give thanks for the harvest, share mooncakes, and light lanterns that carry wishes into the night sky. It's called the Mid-Autumn Festival — one of Asia's oldest and most beloved celebrations.
This September, the Night Market falls under that very moon. The food, the lantern glow, the togetherness — it all comes alive on one Memphis weekend.
Kids carry glowing lanterns through the festival grounds as lion dancers lead the way. Grab a lantern and join the line.
Memphis rock meets Asian roots. One of the city's most electrifying bands closes out Saturday night.
You don't need a passport — just an appetite and your favorite people.
